Salary: £28,000.00 – £30,000.00
Contract: Full-time (40 hours per week) with flexible shifts scheduled on a rota basis including weekends.

Your role will involve working closely with consultants and theatre staff, ensuring smooth and safe surgical procedures, and maintaining best practices in regulatory compliance. Main duties and responsibilities
Surgical assistance and Theatre Preparation
· Assist in the preparation of operating theatres, ensuring all equipment and instruments are available and ready for use.
· Support the surgical team during procedures by providing instruments and consumables efficiently.
· Act as a member of the circulating team which will include – WHO checklist, surgical counts, specimen handling and documentation.
· Maintain a sterile environment by following strict infection control procedures.
· Assist in the safe positioning and preparation of patients for surgery.
Patient safety and care
· Monitor and support patients throughout surgical procedures to ensure comfort and safety.
· Provide compassionate and professional assistance to patients, creating a reassuring environment.
· Accurately document patient information in line with clinic policies and procedures.
· Ensure patient dignity and confidentiality are upheld at all times.
surgical equipment and instrument management
· Ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are sterile, functional, and available as required.
· Follow strict decontamination and infection control processes.
· Monitor stock levels and restock supplies as needed.
· Manage the safe delivery and distribution of medical gas cylinders.
Departmental Support & Teamwork
· Work flexibly across theatres
· Support the theatre leads to ensure efficient surgical procedures.
· Assist in maintaining and improving clinical standards.
· Participate in training sessions, emergency drills, and resuscitation training.
· Adhere to all clinic policies, procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Professional Development & Compliance:
· Take responsibility for personal and professional development.
· Keep updated with best practices and advancements in surgical procedures.
· Ensure compliance with all regulatory and clinical governance requirements.
· Engage in continuing education and on-the-job training opportunities.

Essential Experience
· NVQ Level 2/3 – on the job training can be provided if required
· Care Certificate
· 1+ year experience as a Theatre Health Care Assistant role in the UK.
· Strong understanding of theatre protocols, sterile techniques, and infection control.
· Positive, flexible, and enthusiastic attitude with a commitment to teamwork.
· Excellent communication and organisational skills.
· Attention to detail with the ability to anticipate surgical team needs.
· Basic knowledge of patient care in a day-case surgery environment.
